I like James L. Adams ideas about creativity, habits and human nature from the book 'Conceptual Blockbusting'
Habits allow us to solve intellectual problems much more rapidly than we could if we had to rely completely upon conscious. Habits often destroy creative ideas before they see the light of day. Habits are impaired by socialization, education, professional specialization.
The apparent shortage of time in the development of this project coupled with the natural desire of those involved to solve problems as quickly as possible resulted in overlooking alternative concepts that could have prevented the wild - goose chase.
